Antique Victorian-era figural spelter inkwell features a dog on its lid, sitting atop a drum-like latticed base with dolphin feet, made in the late 1800s. This inkwell was likely a promotional advertising giveaway inkwell from Hoyt’s Broadway play “A Stranger, in New York” from 1897.
Perfect for a calligrapher, but it could also be used as a ring dish or trinket box for jewelry or other small keepsakes. It has a whimsical dark academia style and would make a great gift for a dog lover who's into that style.
