Beautiful large coffee table book, "Chinese Art" features 100 color plates from 1927. Condition notes and Bibliographic info below.

"One hundred plates in colour, reproducing pottery and porcelain of all periods, jades, lacquer, paintings, bronzes, furniture, etc. Introduced by an Outline Sketch of Chinese Art by R. L. Hobson, Keeper of the Department of Ceramics and Ethnography at the British Museum.

"In a contest of artistry," says Mr. Hobson in his Introduction to this book, "the Chinese would surely be acclaimed the most gifted nation in the world." The ever growing interest in Chinese art has been fed by the publication of expensive special monographs on various aspects of the subject, but never until now has a moderate-priced book been published which should throw open to the large body of art lovers this world of lovely form and colour.

This volume has one hundred beautiful coloured plates of the work of Chinese artists and craftsmen in many fields — pottery and porcelain of every period, jades, lacquer, painting, bronzes, furniture, sculpture, carpets, etc. and facing each plate is a complete description of the objects reproduced. No such variety of perfect form, no such combination of beautiful colour, have ever been brought together within the covers of a single book."

C O N D I T I O N
Book is in used vintage condition with signs of wear and age, half the dust jacket is missing and what remains shows significant wear, the front of the actual hardcover has some spots and discoloration. The pages are sun faded, there's foxing throughout predominantly on the pages' edge. There are occasional spots or discoloration.
