This Art Nouveau majolica pottery jardinière, with its unique design and vibrant coloration, reflects the typical aesthetic of the Jugendstil period, which was popular in Germany during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The base lacks definitive markings, so unfortunately we can't say definitively where and when it's from.
The decorative, organic shapes and floral motifs are characteristic of the style, which embraced flowing forms and nature-inspired designs.
This jardinière is a beautiful representation of the Art Nouveau movement, perfect for collectors of early 20th-century European ceramics or those with a love for nature-inspired decorative arts.
The underside has initials that look like Cg and is imprinted 4077,

Good antique condition with some flaws: a few very small, discreet chips that blend into the edges of the handles and two in the tips of the green stems. The base color of the pottery is used throughout so the having it revealed via chips in the paint doesn't detract from the piece. There are two hairline cracks in the vase but structurally it feels fine, it would just need to be handled with care and used for display, not filled with water or soil as to not put pressure on it.
please keep in mind when buying any of our items that vintage means they’ve lived long lives before finding their way to you and are preloved unless otherwise specified. signs of wear, use and age are to be expected and add to the character of the piece.
we do our best to accurately and honestly describe all of our items and will always point out major flaws like cracks, chips, missing pieces, abnormal wear, etc.
photos are the most crucial part of an item’s description. be sure to look at all photos and please zoom in. we are happy to send along more, just ask!
